Tailor Your Resume for this Job
We are looking for a Telecommunication Specialist to manage the critical link between our physical operations and our data systems. This role is based in gravel pit environments, where you will be responsible for installing and maintaining the aerials and routers that allow our site equipment to communicate with our central software.
You will be the "bridge" between the IT department and the boots-on-the-ground crew, ensuring that high-tech hardware survives and performs in a high-dust, heavy-machinery world.
Key Responsibilities
- Ruggedized Hardware Installation: Install, secure, and maintain aerials and routers on fixed structures or mobile units within a gravel pit environment.
- System Integration: Program and tune routers specifically to relay data to our proprietary software platform, ensuring constant connectivity despite geographic challenges.
- The "Bridge" Role: Act as the primary technical point of contact for site foremen and operators, translating IT requirements into practical field solutions.
- Environmental Maintenance: Perform regular "health checks" on equipment to mitigate the effects of dust, vibration, and weather on signal integrity.
- Network Troubleshooting: Diagnose and fix communication "dead zones" or software handshake issues in real-time to prevent operational downtime.
Field-Specific Requirements
- Industrial Aptitude: Comfortable working in active gravel pits around heavy machinery (crushers, loaders, etc.).
- Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of router programming (IP mapping, port configuration) and wireless signal propagation (RF/Aerials).
- Physical Resilience: Ability to climb structures for aerial placement and work outdoors in dusty, noisy, or inclement weather conditions.
- Communication: Ability to work effectively with "boots on the ground" staff who may not be tech-savvy, while providing detailed technical reports to the IT team.
Critical Skills
- Problem Solving: Finding creative ways to maintain a signal in a deep pit or across large stockpiles.
- Hardware Hardening: Knowledge of how to protect sensitive electronics from the elements (NEMA enclosures, specialized mounting).
- Independence: The ability to troubleshoot a "broken link" in the middle of a site without immediate back-office support.
Why This Job?
This isn't a cubicle job. You’ll be essential to our production, ensuring that the data from our scales reaches the people who need it. If you like tech but hate being stuck indoors, this is your role.
Job Type: Full-time

Expected hours: 45 per week
