The Bonobo by Raes is Byron Bay’s newest luxury hotel-apartment destination, combining the privacy and space of premium apartments with the service and atmosphere of a 5-star hotel.

Located in the heart of Byron Bay, The Bonobo features 74 luxury accommodation offerings, a vibrant food and beverage program, wellness experiences, retail spaces, rooftop pool facilities, and the renowned hospitality standards synonymous with the Raes brand.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic, reliable, and guest-focused Overnight Host to join our Guest Services team.

About The Role

The Bonobo By Raes is seeking passionate and skilled Chefs to join our dynamic team in Byron Bay, New South Wales. This casual role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our vibrant culinary scene, delivering exceptional dining experiences in a fast-paced hospitality environment. We are looking for both Breakfast Chefs and Chef de Partie who thrive in a collaborative setting and are dedicated to maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook a variety of dishes in accordance with our menu specifications and recipes
  • Ensure all food is prepared to the highest standards of quality, presentation and hygiene
  • Work efficiently and with a sense of urgency during busy service periods
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations
  • Manage preparation and cooking times effectively to support a seamless service
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen and workstations
  • Adhere to food safety regulations, procedures and best practices
  • Take pride in your work and maintain a high level of attention to detail
  • Contribute to a positive kitchen environment and be willing to learn and develop new techniques

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Chef in a restaurant, café, high-volume catering or similar hospitality environment
  • Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food preparation and food safety standards
  • Comprehensive understanding of food safety regulations and best practices
  • Ability to follow recipes accurately and manage time effectively
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with a strong sense of urgency
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in delivering consistently high-quality food
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to learn, develop new techniques and continuously improve
  • Flexible and reliable availability, including weekends and public holidays
  • Commitment to working a minimum of 25 hours per week, with flexibility across shifts

  • Relevant culinary qualifications or certifications are advantageous
