Description:
We are seeking a regionally based Regional Track Maintenance Coordinator to join our dynamic team on a full-time, ongoing basis. The successful candidate will service greyhound racing tracks across the state, with regular attendance also required at the GRV offices in Altona.

The Role

In this position, you will maintain racetrack surfaces and racing infrastructure, with greyhound safety as your primary driver. We ensure a consistent and effective approach to track safety initiatives through technical excellence and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert guidance and instruction to track curators to ensure surfaces meet high standards.
  • Evaluate tracks to ensure safety and quality for year-round racing and trialling.
  • Make critical recommendations regarding the suitability of tracks or infrastructure for race meetings and trial sessions.
  • Maintain flexibility to accommodate the GRV race meeting calendar, including early starts, evening work, and occasional weekends with overnight stays in regional areas.
Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:
  • Industry Expertise: 3+ years of demonstrated experience in a commercial or industrial maintenance environment, specifically focused on turf or track maintenance.
  • Technical Knowledge: A working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, carpentry, plumbing, welding, or associated trades.
  • Surface Management: Experience with track, playing turf, or sand surface preparation is highly desirable.
  • Racing Awareness: Knowledge and understanding of greyhound, thoroughbred, or harness racing is an advantage.
  • Communication: Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare professional reports.
  • Operational Management: Experience managing third-party contractors and consultants.
  • Teamwork: The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a small team.
  • Safety & Compliance: A demonstrable understanding of safety, health, and environment best practices.
  • Organisation: Proven organisational, time management, and prioritisation skills with meticulous attention to detail.
