TGT English Teacher – Job Description

Job Title: TGT English Teacher

Job Summary:
The TGT English Teacher is responsible for teaching English language and literature to middle and secondary school students (typically Classes VI–X). The role involves planning engaging lessons, assessing student progress, fostering communication skills, and creating a positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver English lessons aligned with the school's curriculum.
  • Teach grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, writing, and literature.
  • Develop students' listening, speaking, reading, and writing (LSRW) skills.
  • Assess and evaluate student performance through tests, assignments, projects, and classroom activities.
  • Maintain accurate academic records and prepare progress reports.
  • Encourage critical thinking, creativity, and effective communication.
  • Use innovative teaching methods, digital tools, and interactive learning strategies.
  • Manage classroom discipline and ensure a safe, inclusive learning environment.
  • Organize literary activities such as debates, elocution, essay writing, and drama.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development programs, and school events.
  • Perform other academic and administrative duties assigned by the school.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in English or a related subject.
  • B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education) from a recognized institution.
  • CTET/TET qualification (preferred or as per school/government requirements).
  • Strong command of spoken and written English.

Skills Required:

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong classroom management abilities.
  • Lesson planning and curriculum implementation.
  • Assessment and student evaluation.
  • Proficiency in educational technology and MS Office/Google Workspace.
  • Interpersonal skills and teamwork.
  • Time management and organizational skills.

Experience:

  • 1–3 years of teaching experience preferred (freshers with relevant qualifications may also apply).

Work Environment:

  • Full-time position in a school setting.
  • May require participation in extracurricular activities, examinations, and school functions.

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
