The Mercantile Group, one of Ireland’s leading hospitality companies, is looking for a Trainee Accountant to join our growing finance team.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the day-to-day financial operations of a dynamic, fast-paced group with a portfolio of iconic venues including Café en Seine, Whelan’s, The George, NoLIta, Opium and The Mercantile Hotel. Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts.
• Support the year-end audit process, including audit file preparation and liaising with external auditors.
• Process and reconcile accounts payable and receivable transactions.
• Assist with the reconciliation of bank accounts, cash, and credit card transactions.
• Provide day-to-day support across core finance functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

What You Bring

• A relevant Level 8 degree (e.g. Accounting, Finance, Business).
• A genuine interest in pursuing a professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, or similar).
• Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational skills.
• Ability to manage time effectively, meet deadlines, and prioritise tasks.
• A positive, proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Previous relevant work or placement experience is an advantage but not essential.
