We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Cable Jointer role in our Distribution Customer Delivery Business Unit. This opportunity is a great pathway to attain National Certificate in Electricity Supply (Cable Jointing Distribution) levels 2, 3 and 4 in order to obtain EWRB registration as a Cable Jointer.
About the Role

- Identifying electrical systems in preparation for work.
- Working on electricity network structures. Maintaining, Jointing, installing, and terminating Polymeric & PILC insulated cables up to and including 33kV.
- Using cable jointing tools, machinery, plant, and equipment in an electricity network environment.
- Determining the condition of electricity supply LV and HV cables.
- Applying earths to and removing earths from underground electricity supply conductors.
- Understanding work plans and drawings for construction and servicing of underground electricity supply cables and equipment.
- Referring to documented work procedures and manuals.
- Maintaining specialised tooling, plant, and equipment relevant to cable jointing tasks.
- Completing testing and identification of underground cables as required
- Joint pit rescue techniques and joint pit safety standards and requirements.
- Confined Space Work.
- Basic Traffic Management.
- Liaising with Network Operations to receive understand and sign onto Access Permits.
- Excavation and reinstatement of underground cables and back fill requirements.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience on electricity networks is preferred.
- Class 1 driver licence required.
- An awareness of industry safety requirements is preferred.
