Design & Engineering
CPP has the largest in-house design and engineering team of any contractor in Australia, with over 170 specialists across Electrical Primary and Secondary, Civil, Structural, and SCADA disciplines. We provide end-to-end engineering solutions for high-voltage infrastructure, including nationally significant transmission projects, HV substations, wind farms and battery storage systems that drive Australia’s renewable energy transition.

The Opportunity
We are seeking a Trainee Commissioning Officer or Engineer to join our South Australian Engineering team based at our Wingfield location.
This is a rare opportunity for a recent Electrical Engineering graduate, or a trade-qualified electrician willing to undertake further studies, to build hands-on experience within an established high-voltage commissioning environment.
You will work alongside experienced Senior and Lead Commissioning Engineers and Officers who are widely respected across the industry. Through direct mentorship and on-the-job training, you will gain practical exposure to complex high-voltage systems, testing, and large-scale infrastructure energisation.
Our commissioning team is trusted to deliver some of Australia’s most significant renewable energy and utility infrastructure projects. You won’t be observing from the sidelines — you’ll be actively involved in bringing critical energy assets online.
CPP is committed to developing long-term technical capability. You will be supported to progress towards becoming a highly capable, industry-recognised commissioning professional.

This role is primarily based at our Wingfield location, working Monday to Friday, with opportunities for overtime.
Skills and Experiences:
About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
Either a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or be a trade-qualified electrician willing to undertake further studies
Experience or exposure to commissioning through a graduate program or site-based experience is highly regarded
A strong interest in building a career in high-voltage commissioning and energy infrastructure
Genuine enthusiasm for working on complex technical projects that support Australia’s energy transition
Willingness to work from our Wingfield location and contribute to project delivery activities, including travel to other sites when required
A current Australian driver’s licence
