The Line Cook Training Program is a comprehensive, up to 17-week, full-time employment readiness and skills training program designed to support unemployed or underemployed Albertans in launching a successful career in the food service industry. Through structured classroom learning, immersive practical kitchen environments, essential skills development, and supported work experience placements, participants build the technical skills and professional workplace behaviors employers are looking for.

The Line Cook Training Program provides a blend of job specific skills training , required safety tickets , practical kitchen training in a commercial kitchen and assistance with direct employment placement upon completion of training. Participants gain practical, transferable skills that apply across a wide range of food service settings, including restaurants, hotels and resorts ,catering operations, institutional kitchens, and hospitality environments. Training emphasizes food safety, teamwork, time management, communication, and adaptability, equipping participants to thrive in fast-paced, real-world kitchen environments. The program also focuses on building professionalism, reliability, and strong work habits that are key qualities valued by employers

Basic Eligibility Requirements :

Alberta resident with either Permanent Canadian residency or Canadian Citizenship.

Have all fines for driving infractions cleared/paid

Be physically fit and able to lift 50lbs

Must be unemployed or can verify working less than 20 hours weekly

Knowledge/ Interest in perusing full time employment in entry-level food service /beginner chef roles or continue along a culinary career pathway

Be legally entitled to work in Canada
