Trainee Mechanic

The Trainee Mechanic (“TM”) position at Hogs Head Golf Club (“HHGC”) is a wonderful opportunity to serve at one of the top private, resort golf clubs in the world. HHGC is seeking a dynamic and innovative Trainee Mechanic. This position will work closely with and report directly to the Head Mechanic, Assistant Golf Course Superintendent, Golf Course Superintendent and General Manager of Hogs Head Golf Club. The Trainee Mechanic MUST possess the service gene and DNA with sincere and genuine desire to provide the ultimate experience for all HHGC Members and Guests.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Performs other duties as assigned by management.

· Work closely with and learn from the Head Mechanic to develop hands-on expertise in turf equipment maintenance and repair.

· Assist in servicing and repairing turf equipment, including mowers, tractors, utility vehicles, aerators, and other machinery.

· Perform basic diagnostics to identify mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical issues and assist in troubleshooting solutions.

· Carry out routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, lubrication, blade sharpening, tire checks, and minor adjustments.

· Ensure all equipment operates safely and efficiently, reporting any hazards or malfunctions promptly.

· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment at all times.

· Learn the proper use, care, and storage of tools and machinery, ensuring longevity and safety.

· Assist with parts ordering, inventory management, and record-keeping to support efficient workshop operations.

· Support course maintenance staff as needed, including mowing, bunker work, and other operational tasks.

· Participate actively in on-the-job training to develop technical skills and knowledge of turf maintenance machinery.

· Build knowledge of turfgrass management equipment technology, including engines, hydraulics, cutting units, and electrical systems.

· Follow all health and safety procedures, wearing appropriate PPE and adhering to operational guidelines.

· Contribute positively to the team, helping to foster a collaborative and professional working environment.

COMMUNICATION:

· To liaise efficiently with the HOD’s to enhance our members and guest’s experiences at all times.

· Maintaining effective communication to ensure plans, challenges and successes are understood, and individual performance is aligned to Company requirements.

· Respond to any complaints and find the appropriate solution.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT:

· Continuously develop job knowledge by attending all scheduled company training.

· Promoting and contributing to a harmonious working environment where all employees are treated with respect and dignity.

· Ensure team members are conversant with and aware of Company standards and that those standards are fully implemented.

• A noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
• Schedule must be flexible to include weekends and holidays.
