We are now looking for a Trainee, Privacy & Compliance for a full-time and fixed term position preferably from the beginning of April/May until the end of August/September 2025. The position is located in our head office, the Biofore House, in Helsinki, Finland.
During the traineeship you will gain valuable experience from your own field of study. We offer versatile tasks in an international company that innovates for a more sustainable tomorrow. What you will do

You will be working together with UPM’s Privacy & Digital Compliance team with operational responsibilities related to global privacy management and continuously improving our privacy and compliance landscape. Your tasks may include, for example, the following:
  • Assisting in completing privacy risk assessments and data protection impact assessments
  • Coordinating and assisting in privacy audits
  • Providing advice to and supporting UPM businesses and functions in implementing privacy requirements
  • Assisting in other tasks in the legal function, such as information and data collection, preparation of background materials and legal research
  • Assisting Counterparty Risk Management team in day-to-day activities
  • Supporting other members of the compliance team in day-to-day activities and development projects
The Trainee, Privacy & Compliance reports to the Group Counsel, Privacy & Digital Compliance, and is a member of UPM Privacy & Digital Compliance team.
Who you are

We are looking for a person with positive attitude, service-oriented mindset, good communication skills and genuine interest to learn and grow as privacy and compliance professional. In this position you will need to be able take ownership of your own work and coordinate multiple responsibilities and tasks concurrently while remaining focused on the key priorities. In addition, the person we are looking for has:
  • Studies in relevant field (e.g. law, economics, or other), with approx. 50-80% of the studies completed
  • Good understanding of the GDPR
  • Advanced English skills, written and oral
Earlier work experience is not a must, but the following are seen as assets:
  • Previous experience related to operational privacy management
  • Understanding of other international privacy legislations related to operational processes and their successful implementations
  • Understanding of other relevant regulatory frameworks (e.g., AI Act, Data Act, NIS2)
