The NextGen Traineeship in a nutshell
Over two years, you’ll rotate through different departments within Aegon Asset Management, gaining hands-on experience across the business. Whether you're passionate about investments, client relationships, risk management, or analytics, this program lets you explore it all. With international exposure, a strong development focus, and the chance to shape your own journey, this is an ideal fit for graduates who are ambitious, curious, and ready to build a career with impact. When graduating the program, the knowledge and network you will build during the program will help you decide in what role you’d like to continue contributing to Aegon AM success.
  • Diverse Rotations: Engage in 2-3 rotations of 6-12 months across various departments of your choice which you arranged by networking with the business. Each placement is tailored to broaden your skill set and deepen your industry knowledge
  • Comprehensive Training: Benefit from a structured training program that cover essential behaviour and technical skills in asset management
  • Capstone Projects: Work on real-world projects that will challenge you and enhance your practical investment skills with your peers

Multi Assets Team
The Multi Asset team manages a wide range of investment strategies. Actively investing in global financial markets across asset classes, including equities, bonds, FX, commodities. The team consists of four sub teams: Asset Allocation, Listed Real Estate, Systematic Strategies and Quant Development. The Asset Allocation team adds value through dynamic and tactical asset allocation and appears regularly in the media as thought leaders. The Listed Real Estate team manages a sustainable (SFDR Article 9) listed real estate fund. The Systematic Strategies team manages a commodity fund and a multi-asset Alternative Risk Premia fund. The Quant Development team supports various front office teams by creating tools, dashboards and supporting the development of investment strategies.
Core responsibilities of the Multi Assets Team:
  • Portfolio Management: Oversee and manage multi-asset investment portfolios totalling around EUR 30 billion assets-under-management, ensuring optimal portfolio composition, active asset allocation, while adhering to relevant restrictions and risk boundaries
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct in-depth research and analysis on various asset classes, market trends, and economic indicators to inform investment decisions
  • Strategy Development: Develop and implement investment strategies that align with portfolio mandates and client objectives
  • Client Interaction: Engage with clients to understand their investment goals, provide tailored solutions and keep them updated on developments and performance
  • Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor portfolio performance and make portfolio adjustments as necessary to achieve desired outcomes
  • Model development: The investment quant branch of the team creates models and tools, which are mostly Python based, to support the portfolio management activities
What will you do?
  • Research: Perform (empirical) research on topics such as economics, financial markets, asset allocation, portfolio construction, and risk management
  • Investment Support: Support the team in in efficiently managing and monitoring several large funds
  • Support Reporting: Help prepare reports and presentations, detailing portfolio performance and market outlook

This would be your position because you:
  • Are (almost) graduated from a master’s degree in a relevant subject to the technical/ financial industry or similar
  • Have demonstrated affinity with Investments, Finance, Audit and/ or Client Relations and want to pursue a career in this area (e.g. through internships)
  • Experience in using programming languages (Python)
  • Takes initiative, are adaptable to different environments, eager to develop and enjoys building relationships and work with colleagues across different geographies
  • Good level of spoken and written English, as you will be working in an international environment

What will you be getting?
  • Base salary of €3.221,23 based on a 40-hour work week.
  • 13th month and holiday allowance are paid on top of your monthly salary;
  • 28 vacation days for a fulltime working week;
  • You will be located at our head office at Schiphol.
