Role/Department:
As a member of the Chief Operating Office (COO) Learning & Development (L&D) Team, the Senior Training Consultant consults with all levels of management to translate business requirements into learning and development strategy. Also ensures that learning and development interventions are aligned with the needs of the Business Unit and Northern Trust. A Senior Consultant is required to lead as well as work collaboratively with Training Consultants defining learning solutions that support the functional requirements.
This role assists management in the development, implementation and maintenance of programs and curriculums that support management and development. Delivers and/or oversees the delivery of a wide range of learning and performance support solutions, likely to be highly visible and complex in nature. The Senior Consultant role will engage with local and regional practice leads and stakeholders to deliver the solutions required to support organisational goals at a local and global level.
The key responsibilities of the role include:
  • Consults with all levels of management to translate business requirements into learning and development strategy.
  • Develops and implements programs that support individual and organisational performance that are aligned with Business Unit and/or enterprise-wide needs.
  • Designs and implements proactive communication plans to ensure that learning and development initiatives are communicated effectively to global audiences.
  • Evaluates training solutions to identify areas for improvement and maintain highest quality delivery.
  • Identifies and evaluates applicability of new learning development vehicles, tools or programs developed by other organisations or vendors. Recommends purchase of programs to management, as appropriate.
  • Facilitates/conducts learning and training solutions.
  • Acts as project manager for major, complex and high-profile learning and development initiatives.
  • Keeps abreast of learning and development best practices and introduces them to Northern and the L&D Training Team.
  • Is a technical expert with in-depth knowledge in area of expertise and strong knowledge of the business unit and corporate strategy.
  • Able to consult independently with and influence all levels of the organisation, particularly senior leaders.
  • Requires strong project management capabilities.
  • Has excellent communication, marketing, relationship, facilitation and motivational skills.
  • Shows strong judgment in the ability to formulate plans based on needs and leadership styles of key leaders.
  • Executes efficiently and effectively. Leadership and organisational skills are essential to prioritise assignments and provide feedback to senior leadership.
Area Specific Duties – Transfer agency (TA) AML
  • Design, develop and maintain an AML training curriculum for the Transfer Agency function into the Global GFS curriculums which can be implemented and delivered regardless of geographic location.
  • Develop and integrate AML rules and regulations into training program
  • Coordinate/deliver the AML new hire curriculum within your geographic location.
  • Design and deliver training for existing systems and new system rollouts.
  • Ensure that COO L&D Training interventions are aligned with the Business Unit and/or enterprise-wide needs.
  • Consult with areas in the business unit to provide ongoing support.
  • Work collaboratively with other global training teams.

Skills / Qualifications:
The successful candidate will benefit from having:
  • Proven operational experience, preferably in TA or a similar role in financial services OR training consulting experience
  • Ability to perform training needs analysis
  • Ability to build and design a training curriculum program
  • Anti Money Laundering (AML) expertise; specifically rules and regulations would be beneficial
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work with all levels of staff
  • Self-starter and team player
  • Attention to detail
