The Prince George's County Department of Public Works & Transportation (DPW&T) is currently seeking highly qualified applicants to fill a Transit Data Analyst (Grade G18) position in the Transit and Taxi Administration Division.
About the Position:
This entry-level professional administrative position will serve as a Transit Data Analyst in the Office of Transportation. In this role, the data analyst will be responsible for collecting, processing, and analyzing transit-related data to support informed decision-making related to various transportation projects. Major duties include developing data models, conducting statistical analysis, and producing comprehensive reports; program research and development; program analysis and review; program coordination and communication; and other duties as related and required. Incumbent receives supervision from the Transit Planning Supervisor or their designee.
About the Agency:
The Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPW&T) is responsible for nearly 2,000 miles of County-maintained roadways that range from rural to urban classifications. The transportation infrastructure includes 900 bridges, as well as shoulders, sidewalks, curbs/gutters, stormwater management facilities, driveway aprons and nearly 3,000 acres of grassy area - all of which are maintained by staff of the Department. DPW&T’s workforce keeps the County’s various services moving by performing a myriad of activities which include removing snow and ice from County-maintained roadways, upgrading traffic signals, installing streetlights, clearing fallen trees, unclogging drainage inlets and maintaining stormwater management facilities, as well as performing roadway repairs ranging from potholes and sidewalk trip hazards to bridge repairs and resurfacing projects and more.
Examples of Work
Collect and process transit-related data from multiple sources, ensuring its accuracy and integrity.
Develop and maintain databases, ensuring data accuracy and security through regular updates and verification.
Analyze transit performance data and identify improvement opportunities.
Generate clear, concise reports, dashboards, and data visualizations to communicate findings to stakeholders, aiding in the decision-making process.
Utilize data visualization tools (e.g., ArcGIS Pro, Tableau, Power BI) to present complex information in an accessible manner for non-technical audiences.
Provides timely analysis of County and/or contractor operations is accurate, complete, and in compliance with County policies and procedures.
Writes reports and recommendations ensuring information is clear, concise and indicative of action to be taken.
Reviews, analyzes and updates goals, objectives, and standards based upon County or contractors' performance.
Qualifications
Graduation from college with major course work in Liberal Arts, one of the Social Sciences, or Public or Business Administration; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Excellent attention to detail, analysis, research and writing ability.
Experience with public transportation systems and transportation management associations.
Experience with transportation-related technology, apps and reporting systems, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
Any equivalent combination of education and experience is also accepted.

Essential employees are expected to report during standard or non-standard hours as operations necessitate, or during emergencies. Essential employees are expected to report or remain at work when other County employees are granted Administrative Leave.
