Transportation Manager

The NMT Transportation Manager oversees daily operations of the agency’s Non-Medical Transportation (NMT) program, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant transportation services for individuals served. This role provides leadership to transportation staff, coordinates scheduling and routing, manages fleet operations, and ensures compliance with state and Medicaid NMT regulations. The Manager collaborates closely with the Director of Transportation to align program operations with organizational goals, quality standards, and funding requirements.

This position reports to the Director of Transportation, or to the Chief Operating Officer when applicable

Key Responsibilities

Program Oversight & Compliance

• Oversee day-to-day operations of NMT services, ensuring safe and timely transportation for all clients.
• Ensure compliance with DODD, Medicaid and state/local regulations governing NMT programs.
• Maintain accurate trip logs, driver records, and compliance documentation.
• Monitor and enforce adherence to company safety policies, universal precautions, and HIPAA regulations.

Staff Leadership & Supervision

• Supervise, train, and evaluate NMT drivers.
• Develop driver schedules and assign routes based on efficiency, client needs, and staffing.
• Conduct regular safety meetings, performance reviews, and ride-along observations.
• Provide coaching, corrective action, and recognition to ensure staff engagement and performance.

Fleet & Operations Management

• Coordinate vehicle assignments, preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs in collaboration with fleet vendors.
• Track and report mileage, fuel use, and maintenance costs to ensure cost-effectiveness.
• Assist with procurement and replacement planning for new vehicles in coordination with the Director of Transportation.
• Ensure all vehicles meet DOT, ADA, DODD and organizational safety standards.
• The NMT Manager will coordinate which vehicle is assigned to each route.
• The NMT Manager will coordinate Community Integration schedule with all site managers

Scheduling & Client Service

• Oversee scheduling of daily routes and trips to maximize efficiency and client satisfaction.
• Respond to transportation issues, delays, or emergencies in a timely and professional manner.
• Work with program managers to coordinate transportation with individual client service plans.(ISPs)
• Address client and family concerns promptly, maintaining a high standard of customer service and professionalism.

Administrative & Reporting

• Track trip counts, billing logs, and program metrics for reporting and reimbursement.
• Assist the Director of Transportation with audits and program planning.
• Participate in organizational leadership meetings and contribute to policy development.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation, CEO or COO

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Experience in school bus driving, van driving, bus driving, shuttle driving, or limousine services a plus but not required.
• Strong communication skills to interact effectively with passengers.
• Excellent customer service skills to ensure a positive experience for all passengers.
• A commitment to safety and adherence to all transportation regulations.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
