Mulrines is a name that has stood the test of time a proud local employer with deep roots in the community. We are now recruiting a Treatment Plant Operator to join our team at our Ballybofey site.
The Role
The Treatment Plant Operator will be responsible for the operation, monitoring, maintenance and troubleshooting of the effluent treatment facility, ensuring compliance with Standard Operating Procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate, monitor, maintain and trouble-shoot the effluent treatment facility
- Maintain a working knowledge of operation, methods and procedures of water treatment and wastewater treatment plant
- Maintain basic knowledge of wastewater discharge norms and consent limits
- Maintain basic knowledge of physical, chemical and engineering aspects of treatment processes for wastewater
- Inspect and perform daily checks on effluent plant performance to ensure effective operations and maintain records
- Complete planned maintenance activities in the water plant shut down periods
- Perform all aspects of sampling, monitoring and testing required to maintain compliance with consent limits
- Perform regular draining and cleaning of effluent treatment plant
- Maintain open communications with colleagues
- Ensure safe storage of effluent chemicals in line with environmental policy
- Housekeeping activities and ensuring area is kept at an audit readiness standard.
- First line response and fault finding of equipment failures & breakdowns.
- Answer and respond to incoming alarm signals.
- Perform all work in conformance to Health, Safety and Environmental regulations

This post is ideally suited to someone with :
- Good communication skills

- Commitment to good practice and quality service
- The ability to work on their own initiative and meet deadlines
- Knowledge of pumps, hydraulics, electrical and mechanical equipment, and basic laboratory and maintenance procedures
- IT skills

Hours of Work
- Wednesday – Friday 7pm to 3am
- Saturday – Flexible (8hrs)
- Sunday - Flexible

About Mulrines
P Mulrine & Sons was established in 1919. Originally located just off Main Street Ballybofey with a workforce of 4 people, the company specialised in the production and distribution of soft drinks and bottled beer.
In 1971 P Mulrines & Sons Sales was established, and a new plant was opened on the Donegal Road which offered greater opportunities to the local people for employment with numbers increasing to around 80 people at the site
With the period of growth that followed our first Tetra Pak fillers were introduced in 1982.
An independent fourth generation family business the Company has grown steadily over the years. As a family business we are very proud of our local heritage and of the loyal workforce we have generated here in Ballybofey and the surrounding area, currently employing over 250 people across all sites.
