At DC Tree Services, we’re more than just a tree company — we’re a tight-knit crew of skilled professionals who take pride in safe, high-quality work and a great team culture.
Our clients include municipal, commercial, and residential, giving our crews a diverse range of work — from large-scale hazard removals and technical tree work to detailed pruning and maintenance.
We’re looking for a motivated Ground Person who isn’t afraid of hard work and wants the opportunity to learn the arboriculture trade. Whether you already have some industry experience or are looking to start a career in tree care, we’re willing to train the right person.
We work hard, we climb high, and we celebrate our wins together — including our annual company fishing trip and other team events.
What You’ll Do
- Work alongside experienced arborists and climbing crews on municipal, commercial, and residential projects
- Assist climbers with ropes, rigging, lowering operations and job-site organization
- Drag, process, chip and clean up branches and tree debris
- Operate and maintain chippers, chainsaws, stump grinders and other arborist equipment as training and experience allow
- Assist with setting up and maintaining safe work zones, including traffic and pedestrian control
- Learn proper pruning, tree removal, rigging and arboriculture techniques from experienced crew members
- Perform physically demanding outdoor work in all weather conditions
- Help keep trucks, equipment and job sites clean and organized
- Work closely with the crew to complete jobs safely, efficiently and professionally
- Uphold the DC Tree Services commitment to safety, teamwork and high-quality work

- Previous landscaping, construction, forestry, arboriculture or other outdoor labour experience is an asset
- Physically fit and comfortable performing demanding outdoor work
- Dependable, hardworking and willing to learn
- Able to take direction and work effectively as part of a crew
- Safety-conscious with good situational awareness
- Comfortable working around machinery, ropes and active tree work
- Class 5 driver’s licence preferred
- Air brake endorsement and experience towing trailers are assets
- Interest in becoming an arborist and progressing into climbing, pruning and technical tree work is a major asset
What We Offer
- Competitive hourly wage based on experience
- Extended health and dental benefits
- Life insurance
- Paid time off
- Opportunities for advancement and ongoing training
- Opportunity to work toward becoming a climbing arborist
- Hands-on training with experienced arborists

- Year-round, local work — no long travel days

We’re not looking for someone who already knows everything. We’re looking for someone who shows up, works hard, listens, learns and wants to become a valuable part of the crew.
For the right person, this is more than a labourer position — it’s an opportunity to build a career in arboriculture and work your way toward becoming a skilled climbing arborist.
