The Opportunity
The Chief Operations and Asset Management Office (COAMO) is central to the operation, development and enhancement of the all-island power system and wholesale electricity market. It supports Ireland’s transition to 80% renewable electricity by 2030 and net carbon neutrality by 2050 by maintaining operational resilience, enabling innovation and driving continuous improvement.
System Support & Analysis manages a wide range of technical and commercial functions including imperfections reporting, tariff calculations, market unit registration, DS3 system service auctions, service provider performance management, market data checks, renewables analysis and TSO settlement. The team also provides technical and commercial expertise to System Operations, Markets and wider business change initiatives.
This is an excellent opportunity for an innovative, solution-focused and resilient individual to play a key role in the transition to a low carbon energy future.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of System Support & Analysis, in this role you’ll provide leadership across a dynamic section of the Chief Operations and Asset Management Office. You will lead and motivate a team of circa 10 people, manage assigned work, and work closely with other COAMO functions to support seamless system and market operations. The TSO Settlement Manager will demonstrate the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and will be responsible for:
- Manage day-to-day settlement processing activities in line with agreed procedures and timelines, including Transmission System Operator settlement schemes and interconnector-related settlement.
- Embed agreed standards into business processes, manage team goal setting and performance reviews, coach staff and support proactive resolution of business issues.
- Lead, oversee, and allocate work across the team to meet business priorities, manage issues and act as an escalation point.
- Design, implement and monitor appropriate KPIs and operational targets, including timely escalation of risks and issues.
- Contribute to the strategic development of the Settlement team and the Operations and Asset Management Directorate.
- Manage team performance, coaching, development and capability building.
- Ensure compliance with relevant TSO and market codes, rules, licence obligations, governance standards and audit requirements.
- Engage effectively with internal teams, regulatory authorities and market participants, drawing on team and personal expertise.
- Support consultation, review and implementation of future system and process changes.
- Develop subject matter expertise within the team to support queries, operational activities and continuous improvement.
- Lead process improvement, training and operational excellence initiatives.
- Coordinate audit management and associated actions.
About You
- Third level qualification or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
- 6+ years’ relevant experience in a real-time operational, market or settlement environment.
- Experience managing operational teams, with a focus on quality assurance, process improvement, milestones and change delivery.
- Proven ability to inspire, coach and develop high-performing teams.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with internal teams, regulators, government bodies and market participants.
- Understanding of regulatory, governance and audit frameworks, with the ability to interpret complex data, assess risks and make informed judgements under pressure.
- Ability to shape team direction, align with organisational goals and anticipate future challenges and opportunities.
- Experience in electricity or financial markets.
- Project management qualification or relevant project delivery experience.
