Key Responsibilities

  • Perform field sampling and testing of asphaltic concrete in accordance with established procedures and the standard methods established by AASHTO, ASTM, TxDOT or other agency with appropriate, properly calibrated testing equipment.
  • Prepare and submit accurate, legible, comprehensive, and complete testing reports on a daily basis in accordance with established quality procedures.
  • Perform analysis or calculations to check accuracy, applicability, and reasonableness of testing data.
  • Review testing records performed by other construction engineering technicians to assure compliance with requirements of established procedures.
  • Maintains assigned equipment and related calibration in accordance with established laboratory quality management procedures.
  • Follows safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects. Performs pre-task planning prior to executing work. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.

Basic/Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Relevant experience with asphalt concrete mix design, production, sampling, or testing is required: Minimum 1 year
  • Certification in the following areas is required: TxAPA Level 1A in hot mix asphalt production testing
  • Certification in one or more of the following areas is not required but preferred: ACI Concrete Field Grade 1, TxAPA SB102 in soils and base, and TxAPA Level 1B in hot mix asphalt
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Reliability – must be able to arrive at designated project sites prior to scheduled times.
  • Ability to prepare reports and documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required
  • Must pass drug test, physical, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy.

Physical Demands

  • Physical examination required to obtain medical clearance to work.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs and move 100 lbs
  • Clean driving record and capable of being insured for driving company vehicles.
  • Able to work in variable outside conditions, including extreme heat or cold.
