Job Description – Underwater Diver (Inspector)

About the opportunity

Based at Site which is located about 70 Kms from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. This is for a critical Marine Infrastructure Project for a government client.

Reporting will be to the Resident Engineer.

The Underwater Diver (Inspector) will be based on site and will be responsible for inspection, monitoring, and quality assurance of the marine operations carried out by the package Contractor. The role involves ensuring that the implementation of site activities complies with the approved drawings, specifications, codes, safety standards, and project requirements.

The Underwater diver will be responsible for inspecting and monitoring the underwater construction activities, including but not limited to:

Laying of geotextile.
Rock and Accropode placement.
Breakwater and revetment profiles.
Jetty piles and structures.
Navigational aids.

Coordination & Reporting . Coordinate with Contractors, Client representatives, and other discipline inspectors to ensure seamless site operations and effective interface management. Keep daily inspection records, site diaries, and quality inspection reports, while also monitoring the safety measures implemented by the package Contractor during their diving activities. Support preparation of progress inputs, inspection documentation, and handover dossiers.

Here's what you'll need

About You

Certified Class II - Commercial Diving license with physical fitness and 15 years of relevant experience

Proven experience in execution and inspection of underwater marine construction activities on Infrastructure / Industrial / Ports / projects.

Skills Required for the Role

Certified in surface-supplied diving.
Knowledge of decompression procedures.
Knowledge of international diving regulations.
Physical and mental fitness.
Inspection & quality assurance skills.
Safety awareness.

Personal Attributes

Good communication and coordination skills.
Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and safety.
Ability to work efficiently in site-intensive and challenging environments, including marine locations.
Proactive, disciplined, and capable of supporting timely issue resolution.
