The purpose of this role is to support the Chief Underwriting Officer in managing and controlling the underwriting strategy and planning, drive portfolio performance management and drive underwriting operations efficiency.
The Opportunity:
  • Produce and ensure delivery of the annual underwriting business plan for the portfolios, monitor progress, identify risks and opportunities, recommend action, and implement it with the regional product leads to achieve business objectives.
  • Lead and facilitate underwriting performance reviews and cell reviews; identify risks and opportunities; develop actionable insights and ensuring timely delivery of accurate data.
  • Facilitate improvement in our underwriting processes working with underwriters, pricing, IT and Operations using data and metrics.
Your new role:
  • Design, enhance and implement scorecards, dashboards and reports for effective and efficient management of portfolios and underwriting processes by collaborating with Actuarial, Finance, Data & Analytics, Pricing, IT and Operations.
  • Ensuring the deployment and maintenance of efficient processes, procedures, and controls to facilitate these activities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to maximize influence.
  • Keep abreast of market dynamics and demonstrate market cycle awareness for effective operation.
  • Actively train and share knowledge with colleagues in driving effective portfolio management, underwriting effectiveness and operational excellence.
  • Actively undertake personal development to ensure up to date knowledge and capabilities.
About You:
  • Proven experience in the insurance industry
  • Strong financial and performance management experience.
  • Proven experience of working with senior executives
  • Significant project management experience.
  • Experience with process design, evaluation and improvement.
