Technology Assistant (7-12th grade)
Position Summary and Overview
The Churchill School & Center, a K-12 school for students with language-based learning disabilities, is seeking an Upper School Technology Assistant Teacher to work primarily with 7th-12th Grade students in our specials/electives program. This position provides an opportunity for a beginning teacher to experience working with STEAM curriculum and further their knowledge and teaching skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Demonstrate commitment to Churchill’s mission and core values
- Embrace and model Churchill’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Work collaboratively with Head Teachers to plan, support, and implement units of study, lessons, assignments, projects, and activities
- Create and implement a technology related elective course
- Support students in implementing various technology related skills, including assistive technology
- Support students by scaffolding in-class assignments, tasks and projects
- Assess student work and participation
- Seek improved methods of teaching through professional development opportunities
- Supervise students during transitions, lunch, and recess periods
- Other duties as assigned (e.g. advisement, lunch duty, study hall, etc.)
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have...
- BA or BS Degree (Degree in secondary education, special education or a technology related field)
- Experience working with, mentoring, supervising and/or building positive relationships with upper school students
- Knowledge of, or willingness to continue higher levels of education to obtain knowledge of effective service strategies and methodologies for working with students with language-based learning disabilities
- Familiarity with Google Workspace, and technology related to coding, film & video, and robotics
- Interest in professional career development in the field of STEAM and special education
- Patience, flexibility, good organization skills, and a sense of humor
Compensation
- $45,000-$53,000 commensurate with experience
