Maple Leaf Construction Ltd. is a leading heavy civil construction company based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, proudly serving the region since 1943. We provide a wide range of services, from minor repairs and maintenance to large-scale commercial and infrastructure projects, including commercial development, concrete and asphalt paving, site services, residential developments, street reconstruction, and highway rehabilitation.

We are currently seeking a seasonal Utility Locator to join our team. Reporting to the Safety Manager, the successful candidate will perform underground utility locates and work closely with other locators to support operational needs. This is a seasonal position running approximately from April to November.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and mark underground utilities using electronic locating equipment
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Supervisors, Foremen, and crews to determine job requirements and timelines
• Communicate site locations and scope of work to utility owners via phone and computer systems
• Perform extensive computer work, including communication and map creation
• Assist with hand digging to expose utilities when required
• Travel daily to various job sites

Qualifications & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Previous construction or utility locating experience is an asset
• Proficiency with computers, including web forms, email, and Excel

Requirements

• Valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle
• Willingness to work long hours outdoors (shift starts at 6:00 a.m.)
• Availability for on-call emergency locates during evenings and weekends
• Strong time management skills and punctuality
• Clear and effective communication skills (written and verbal)
• Ability to multitask, including managing email and voicemail throughout the day
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
