Do you love cooking tasty vegetarian and vegan food? Sonairte is looking to hire an experienced cook for our busy vegetarian & vegan café.

About Sonairte

Sonairte is an Ecology Visitor Center located on the banks of the river Nanny in Laytown, Co. Meath. With an organic walled garden dating back to the 1750’s, we produce a wide variety of organic fruits, vegetables, herbs, plants and flowers. We’re on a mission to show people how to live more sustainably in harmony with nature to help address the most pressing environmental issues of our time – the climate crisis and the biodiversity crisis. Our vegan café is a central part of this, using our home grown fruit and veg from our organic garden and orchard to make healthy and delicious meals.

The Role

We are looking for a cook with a passion for preparing delicious vegetarian and vegan food.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing seasonal menus
• Preparation and cooking of food to the highest standard.
• Working with the head gardener to ensure that the café & garden are working in tandem.
• Maintaining food safety records and ensuring HACCP compliance within the café.
• Sourcing ingredients, managing suppliers, deliveries.
• Stock taking and inventory of kitchen food & supplies
• Supervising, training and directing kitchen and service staff as required.
• Minimizing wastage and maximizing recycling and composting.
• Ensuring consistency in meal taste, portion sizes and presentation.

The Ideal Candidate:

Has a passion for vegetarian and vegan cooking and wants to share that with others.

• Has prior experience working in a busy kitchen environment.
• Is available to work weekends / 9am to 5pm Thursday to Sunday.
• Has HACCP Level 2 certification.
• Has a full driving license.
• Is able to work as part of a team.

Pay: €14.80-€18.80 per hour

Expected hours: 24 – 30 per week
