- Screening of clients and questionnaire completion
- Ensure grant compliance, organize data and documentation required for grants, attend scheduled site visits and assist in the preparation of periodic reports
- Data management, including entering information into Legal Aid’s database and retrieving relevant data
- File management, including scanning documents into the client database, digital organization, filing, drafting letters, assisting with document preparation, and archiving closed cases
- Client management, including providing clients with information and advice under the strict supervision of an attorney
- Unit management including maintaining the monthly intake and outreach schedule, training of new staff, volunteers and interns on the case management system, maintaining volunteer contact information and case assignments, tracking and closing cases, providing litigation and non-litigation support to the attorney
- Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
- An undergraduate degree or paralegal certificate is preferred, but not required
- One to two years of experience in social services, including outreach with a legal nonprofit or comparable setting
- Previous experience working with homeless and veteran populations is strongly preferred
- Demonstrated commitment to public service and previous work with low-income people, with an appreciation for diversity, is strongly preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication, listening, and organizational skills
- Must possess creative problem solving skills with meticulous attention to detail and data entry accuracy
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a collaborative, hybrid team model
- Prior experience with law office management software strongly preferred
- Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office
- Proficiency in languages other than English, specifically Spanish, is highly valued
Salary and Benefits:
- This position offers a salary of $50,000, but may vary (up or down) depending on work experience. Salaries are reviewed annually and may be adjusted based on available funding
