Veterinary Assistant

Veterinary Assistant/Technician

We are a small animal practice located in Barrhaven looking for a positive, outgoing, and enthusiastic veterinary assistants to add to our team.

This position is Full time. Hours of operation are Monday to Friday 8AM - 6PM and occasional Saturdays.

Applicants will be working in all areas of the clinic.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Providing excellent customer service to our clients both in person and over the phone.
  • Compassionate and competent patient care, handling, and restraint.
  • Collecting, preparing, and running laboratory samples.
  • Assisting in radiography and surgery as appropriate to the level of training and experience.
  • Assisting DVM in appointments and to staff as needed.
  • General housekeeping duties.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Administrative duties such as preparing invoices, collecting payments, and filing.
  • Must be comfortable working with and handling large dogs and fractious cats.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a positive attitude
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to handle stressful situations.
  • Ability to adhere to professional ethics and confidentiality.
  • Clinic environment experience is considered an asset.
  • Experience with Avimark is considered an asset.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $18.00-$22.00 per hour

Experience:

  • Animal Care: 1 year (preferred)
  • veterinary assisting: 1 year (preferred)
