The Animal Hospital of Cambridge is currently looking for 2 Vet Assistant / Receptionist's to join our growing team and would love to hear from you!

Animal Hospital of Cambridge is a progressive small animal hospital with AAHA accreditation located in Cambridge, Ontario. We are part of the Vet Strategy network of hospitals that provides routine preventative care as well as daytime emergency, & critical care services 7 days a week. We have been providing excellent patient care since 2004, and in 2018 we built a much larger modern facility to serve our growing client base. Our patient-focused practice is committed to delivering high-quality veterinary care. What We’re Looking For
- Vet Assistant with ability to work at reception
- Solid work ethic and dedication, able to perform physical duties lifting up to 50 lbs
- Works collaboratively with team members to ensure AAHA high standards of care
- Experience in handling and restraint to ensure patient and staff safety
- Utilize Fear Free and/or Cat-Friendly handling techniques (or willingness to learn)
- Assist with running lab samples on our Idexx Lab Station (training can be provided)
- Uses attention to detail and maintains accurate medical records
- Passion for learning and continuous professional growth
- Support client communication via follow up calls, booking appointments, answering phones
- Positive mindset and ability to work cohesively within a team
- Strong communication skills with both clients and coworkers
- Assist with husbandry and disinfection control duties
Duties for this position can include:
- Cleaning kennels
- Feeding/medicating patients
- Caring for boarding/ hospitalized animals
- Washing surgical instruments & wrapping/sterilizing surgery packs
- Post-operative monitoring/care
- Unpacking inventory order / restocking
- Maintaining cleanliness of clinic (internal/external)
- Sweeping & Mopping
- Laundry
- Garbage & recycle collection/disposal
- Record keeping
- Answering phones/client care (training would be provided)
- Assisting Veterinarian/technicians/groomer with restraint for procedures
- Perform nail trims (training would be provided)
About the role
Shifts range from 10 or 12 hours ( 1 hour for lunch break), sharing in a rotation of weekends. We do our best to provide monthly schedules with fair shifts amongst the entire team. There is flexibility to trade shifts when needed. Wage to commensurate with experience.
