About the Role

The Vice Rector Teaching and Learning provides strategic leadership for teaching, learning, curriculum and educational innovation, fostering a contemporary, evidence-informed and inclusive learning culture. Guided by the Franciscan charism and Catholic educational tradition, the role drives excellence in pedagogy, staff capability and student outcomes through strategic planning, leadership development and data-informed improvement.

The Vice Rector ensures that curriculum, learning systems and educational practices are aligned with the College’s values, supporting the holistic formation, wellbeing and success of young men in the Franciscan tradition.

The successful candidate will be appointed to this role for an initial term of five (5) years, in accordance with Clause S2.12 - Appointment to Senior Leadership Positions. This appointment also includes a permanent teaching position for the successful candidate.

Key Responsibilities / Duties:
  • Lead the design and implementation of a comprehensive professional learning and leadership development strategy aligned to contemporary standards, including APST and HAT/LEAD frameworks, to build instructional excellence and sustain continuous improvement.
  • Lead and embed a whole-school Learning Framework and pedagogical model that ensures consistency and excellence across Years 5–12.
  • Oversee the design, renewal and delivery of curriculum, including subject structures, course offerings and program development, while ensuring that assessment policy, practice and reporting processes are coherent, rigorous and aligned across the College
  • Drive high-impact teaching practices, ensuring consistency, rigour and quality across the College.
  • Oversee the analysis of key student performance datasets, including NAPLAN, literacy and numeracy benchmarks, and measures of learning growth and engagement, to inform strategic decision-making and targeted intervention.
  • Collaborate with ICT leadership to ensure effective learning systems and infrastructure.

Skills and Experiences:
To be considered for this role, you should have:
A highly accomplished and experienced school leader with recognised teacher qualifications including postgraduate qualifications at a Masters-level.
Current Queensland Teacher Registration.
Demonstrated commitment to the mission of Catholic education, with a strong understanding of the College’s Franciscan charism and the capacity to support a vision for boys’ education that reflects the values, purpose, and ethos of Catholic schooling.
Proven experience in leading the design and implementing whole-school learning frameworks, professional learning programs, and staff development initiatives that enhance staff capability, educational outcomes, and organisational effectiveness.
Demonstrates commitment to ongoing professional learning and renewal.
