About the Role

Workplace Violence poses a significant health and safety threat to staff at Health New Zealand facilities nationwide.

The primary purpose of the role is to contribute to the development and effective delivery of services to prevent and reduce the harms from Violence at Work by leading, informing, educating and supporting employees who experience incidents of violence at work, while also ensuring that patients, family and visitors who display escalated behaviours are safe and feel supported, respected and have their cultural needs met.

About the Team/Service

As a Violence at Work Specialist, you will be part of dedicated team of professionals who are essential in upholding safety standards within New Zealand's healthcare industry.

The position plays a crucial role in implementing robust systems to raise staff awareness, provide education and training, implement risk mitigation strategies, de-escalation techniques, and promote safe practices within the Auckland District.

This initiative aims to reduce incidents of workplace violence through the specialised efforts of Violence Reduction Specialists who collaborate across various disciplines such as clinical, health and safety, and healthcare security.


About you

To be successful in this role you will have a background in designing and delivering adult education programmes, focussing on health, safety, and crime prevention.

You will possess a relevant degree or extensive experience in these areas and demonstrate a talent for creating interactive learning experiences that empower individuals to apply their knowledge effectively in practical scenarios.

  • 5 years clinical experience or 5 years’ experience in a safety services role, crime prevention or CPI Safety Intervention Trainer
  • Experience in facilitating and developing adult education
  • Experienced and competent in the use of Microsoft Office suite of products
