Who We Are:
At YouthLink Calgary Police Interpretive Centre, we transform curiosity into connection. We deliver immersive crime prevention experiences, hands-on history, and unforgettable public programs that immerse visitors into the world of policing.
Whether we’re walking students through the dangers of cybercrime, guiding families through forensic mysteries, or hosting adult crime nights that put visitors in the middle of a case—our mission is clear: inspire, educate, engage, and empower. The impact we create is meaningful.
As our Visitor Experience Manager, you are responsible for leading the front-facing operations of the Museum. Ensuring that every visitor enjoys an informative, engaging, and welcoming experience. This role is key to building positive community relationships, improving public understanding of policing, and fostering repeat visitation through exceptional service and programming.
The ideal candidate is passionate about people, public service, and education, with experience in visitor services, museum operations, public programming, and event planning.
Create unforgettable experiences. At YouthLink Calgary Police Interpretive Centre, we believe powerful connections between the public and policing begin with one thing…an unforgettable experience.
The Opportunity
We’re seeking a Visitor Experience Manager who’s equal parts strategic leader, exceptional host, and hands-on collaborator. You’ll be the heartbeat of our public-facing operation—ensuring that every visitor leaves with insight, inspiration, and a deeper connection to the world of policing.
This Role Is Made for You If You...
- Light up around people: you thrive on connecting with visitors, helping, and making someone’s day.
- See guest service as a craft: you know how to turn a simple visit into something unforgettable.
- Lead with heart and hustle: you inspire teams, build people up, and jump in when things get busy.
- Bring energy everywhere you go: you set the tone and spark momentum.
- Turn challenges into opportunities: you're calm under pressure, quick with solutions, and always thinking two steps ahead.
- Love making things better: whether it’s improving a process or reimagining a guest experience, you’re wired to innovate.
- Believe in the power of meaningful experiences: you know that what we do matters, and you bring purpose to every moment.
What You'll Do:
Lead a Mission-Driven Frontline
- Hire, train, schedule, and lead our team of visitor staff and volunteers.
- Build a culture rooted in experiences, innovation, and storytelling.
- Support your team right there in the action.
Create & Deliver Engaging Experiences
- Oversee public day operations: from public visitors to tours to our buzzing little gift shop.
- Develop and lead hands-on activities, interactive workshops, public programs, and community events.
- Help turn ideas into experiences that align with our community policing, crime prevention and education mandate.
- Facilitate group visits, including schools, community organizations, and policing partners.
Keep the Engine Running
- Manage systems: POS, ticketing, booking, visitor metrics etc.
- Maintain smooth daily operations, from signage and flow to cleanliness and accessibility.
- Oversee YouthLink's volunteer program.
- Minding budgets.
Collaborate Across the Centre
- Work closely with our museum, education, bookings, and marketing teams to align efforts and share insights.
- Be a trusted contact for CPS officers, community groups, and external event partners.
You’ll Thrive in This Role If You...
- Have 5+ years leading amazing guest service teams (think museums, attractions, or something similar)
- Are a natural leader who builds strong, motivated teams and lead with clarity, empathy, and energy.
- Communicate with confidence and warmth; whether you’re guiding a guest, coaching a team member, or navigating a busy day.
- Believe kindness is a superpower, and solving problems with creativity and calm is part of the fun.
- Can handle anything the day throws at you; from creating schedules to jumping in when something unexpected pops up.
- Feel just as comfortable using a POS system or booking software as you do welcoming a first-time visitor.
- Know how to bridge connections between the public and police, between curiosity and insight, and between your team and our shared mission.
- Bring positivity, flexibility, and a great sense of humour to your work (and believe in making someone’s day, every day).
- Are ready to work weekends and the occasional evening—because that’s when the magic happens.
- Can meet the requirements for an enhanced Calgary Police Service security clearance.
