Description & Requirements

Spark NZ
As New Zealand's largest telecommunications and digital services company, Spark’s purpose is to help all of New Zealand win big in a digital world. We provide mobile, broadband, and digital services to millions of New Zealanders and thousands of New Zealand businesses.
We operate in an exciting and constantly evolving industry, where the pace of change brings new and unique challenges every day, so we operate using Agile ways of working to allow us to meet the fast-changing needs of our customers. Agile replaces the traditional hierarchical organisational structure to produce a transparent, collaborative environment with highly productive teams who are empowered to deliver better outcomes for our customers, communities, and all of New Zealand.

About the Role:
This is an opportunity to join a team of Voice Engineers, based onsite at a customer office in Wellington. Our Voice Engineers ensure New Zealand maintains reliable communication systems by managing VoIP infrastructure for our customers. This work, paired with excellent customer service skills, is essential for success in this proactive, hands-on role.
Day to day you will be involved in:
  • Support LAN, WAN, Applications, and Server teams as onsite hands-on assistance.
  • Administer Skype for Business features, voicemail accounts, and PIN management.
  • Troubleshoot audio issues with desktop VoIP applications and peripherals.
  • Resolve desk network/cabling issues for various teams (Deskside, Telecoms, AV, Eftpos, Printers).
  • Manage user changes on Skype for Business and Poly Phone platforms.
  • Handle office moves, including physical phone relocations and extension reassignments.
  • Support frequent personnel changes in the office by ensuring reliable phone access.
  • Assemble, repair and test phone systems for installation.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, process and standard operation procedures
What experience you'll bring?

You come with "batteries included", showing up with a positive attitude and energy every day. You're also a self-starter with a bias for action who seeks out great ways of doing everything you get involved in. You question the status quo, see the bigger picture and are good at "joining the dots", plus you tick (at least a few of) these boxes:

  • Knowledge or experience with Microsoft 365, Microsoft Teams and Skype for Business.
  • Display knowledge of SIP protocols and QoS for VoIP
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to work closely with customers, peers and management
  • Must have experience with call flows, hunt groups and phone number ports in and out of carriers
  • Degree in technology (nice-to-have, but not required)
WHY CHOOSE US:
Diversity and Inclusion: Te Kanorau me te Whakawhāiti mai
At Spark, we are constantly looking for ways to build a more inclusive culture. Our vision is for diversity and inclusion to be “how things are done at Spark”, embedded into our day-to-day activities, standards, and business practices. The principle of equity is at the very heart of our approach, and we remain committed to working in partnership to make a positive contribution to digital equity in line with our focus on Diversity and Inclusion.
Benefits: Awhina
Our people matter and we make sure we look after them. As a valued employee of Spark, we’ve got our people covered with a range of leading benefits including:
  • Wellbeing - Comprehensive medical insurance, life and income protection. Access to wellbeing coaches, EAP and in-house Specialist Clinical support through our leading Mahi Tahi Wellness programme.
