About the Role:
Do you have a love of pickleball and are looking for a way to give back to your community? The YMCA of Northern Alberta is seeking those with a passion for the sport and a talent for relationship building and role modeling a healthy lifestyle. This volunteer position will champion participation in recreational pickleball, work on strategies to improve members' experience, and oversee equipment set-up and takedown.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee adult drop-in recreational sports participation during pickleball open play times and special events.
- Facilitate game play while encouraging fair play and ensuring participant safety.
- Deliver high quality services through excellent relationships with members.
- Relay program information and upcoming YMCA events to members.
- Support with equipment set up and take down, keeping all equipment organized and well-maintained.
- Role model recruitment and retention of members as well as a personal understanding of and appreciation for the mission, vision and values of the YMCA.
Qualifications:
- Availability: Daytime and/or weekends.
- Current certification in CPR-C is required.
- Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
- Sound understanding of the rules and game play of pickleball.
- Coaching and/or referring certifications considered an asset.
- Ability to lead groups, give directions and make decisions.
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills.
