Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum (CWHM)
The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum is dedicated to preserving, restoring, and operating historic aircraft while sharing the stories of the people and events that shaped Canada’s aviation history. Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do, and we are seeking a Volunteer Services Coordinator to support, engage, and grow our valued volunteer community.
Position Overview
The Volunteer Services Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the volunteer program at CWHM. This role builds strong relationships with volunteers, staff, and department leads to ensure a positive, well-organized, and meaningful volunteer experience that supports the Museum’s daily operations, events, and long-term mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruit, onboard, and train volunteers across Museum departments
- Coordinate volunteer assignments and scheduling to meet operational needs
- Serve as the primary liaison between volunteers and Museum staff
- Maintain accurate volunteer records and databases
- Support department leads with volunteer planning and engagement
- Develop and deliver volunteer orientations and ongoing training
- Foster a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive volunteer environment
- Communicate regularly with volunteers through emails, newsletters, and meetings
- Organize volunteer recognition and appreciation initiatives
- Ensure compliance with Museum policies and health and safety requirements
- Assist with special events, airshows, and public programs as needed
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in volunteer management, human resources, nonprofit management, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Experience coordinating volunteers, preferably in a museum, heritage, or nonprofit setting
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively with volunteers of diverse ages, backgrounds, and skill levels
- Comfortable managing databases and standard office software
- Ability to work independently while collaborating as part of a team
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends
- An interest in aviation, history, or heritage preservation is an asset

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00-$58,000.00 per year
