Description:
About the role

The Volunteer Support Officer manages the recruitment, engagement, and onboarding of new Disaster Relief Australia (DRA) volunteers. This includes handling enquiries, applications, and related processes to ensure a smooth transition to active participation. The role also involves ensuring volunteer preparedness in line with relevant protocols, training requirements, and compliance standards. Occasionally, working outside of normal business hours may be necessary to meet organisational needs.

Summary of key responsibilities

Process new volunteer enquiries and applications to ensure quality conversions.
Conduct screening, onboarding, and engagement calls.
Support and participate in recruitment events, activities and information sessions.
Liaise with internal teams and stakeholders.
Provide guidance and support to volunteers, including profile completion, induction processes and further engagement.
Contribute to preparation of reports.
Demonstrate DRA’s values of Courage, Respect, Service and Tenacity and support a positive, values-based culture.

Capabilities for the role

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Experience in customer sales, service and onboarding, workforce management or team coordination.
Ability to create a welcoming and supportive environment for volunteers.
High attention to detail in maintaining accurate records within data information systems.
Team player who builds connections and works collaboratively to meet shared goals.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint (desirable) and confident working with databases and record management systems.
Evolved problem-solving skills to make sound, accurate and informed decisions.
Comfortable navigating through complex policy, processes, and people related organisational dynamics.
Motivated to deliver DRA’s objectives.

Location: Hybrid or remote

Salary: $40,000 p.a. + superannuation (PT - 3 days a week, Fixed term 6- month contract with extension). Salary packaging if eligible.

Please be advised that requested working day are Monday to Wednesday or Wednesday to Friday.
