Job Summary: The VP, Sales provides effective leadership and management of HOLT Truck Centers Sales’ strategy, resources, and operations.
The VP, Sales has responsibilities of increasing profitable revenue, managing assets, and maximizing market share. The role provides leadership, mentoring, and coaching to Managers ensuring safe and efficient operational processes are implemented and executed across the business in support of business goals and in alignment with the company’s vision, values and mission.
The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices on a daily basis: 1) Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core business values; 2) Collaborate with key internal/external resources; 3) Participate in ongoing self-development.
Essential Functions:
- Hires, develops, evaluates, and influences effective and consistent productivity and teamwork to ensure the delivery of Legendary Customer Service (LCS)
- Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission
- Develop, monitor, promote and implement annual business plans for HOLT Truck Centers Sales’ operations to maintain stability and profitable growth for the division while meeting market share objectives
- Evaluate, allocate and control resources (financial, technical, and physical) of HOLT Truck Centers Sales’ division to optimize ROA and meet the balanced needs of all stakeholder groups
- Develop, communicate, implement, and monitor operational practices (structure, systems, competencies, and processes) to provide legendary customer service, maximize productivity and efficiency, and attain established goals and objectives
- Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
- Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Expert technical aptitude and understanding of the heavy equipment and trucking industry
- Demonstrated skills in planning, budgeting, and project management directed toward achievement of business goals, requiring strong understanding of financial performance reports
- Ability to lead and implement key strategic projects that have significantly improved the profit and growth trajectory of a business
- Genuinely interested in exponentially growing the Company’s business and transforming its operations for successful longevity
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, fleet managers, and OEM partners
- Demonstrated ability to ensure CRM systems and sales processes are optimized for accuracy and efficiency
- Driven and results oriented; business development, KPIs, and market expansion to meet corporate targets
- Coaching/mentoring experience with personnel
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills sufficient to engage with vendors, own staff, and corporate executives to exchange information, influence and persuade
- First-class presentation skills before both small and large groups
- Exceptional organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills to include Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of personnel within the organization and customer operations
- Ability to understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making
- Ability to perform mathematical computations such as percentages, fractions, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division quickly and accurately
- Ability to interpret extensive technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and understand several abstract variables
- Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma, or equivalent, required, bachelor's degree in related field preferred
- 10 or more years of directly related business and/or operational management experience in the trucking industry leading diverse teams and offering a broad range of product offerings
- At minimum, five years of previous management experience required
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; coaching and development; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Travel:
- Up to 50% travel, to include overnight stays
- Valid driver’s license
Physical Requirements:
- This position involves extended periods in a stationary position; additionally, occasional movement inside the office to access office machinery, file cabinets, etc.
- This role frequently communicates with others, must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines
- Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
- The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects
- Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina
- Ascend/descend with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climb up and down ladder
- Be able to safely maneuver and work underneath equipment
- Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work
- Safety training required; PPE required outside of office/parking lot area
Work Environment:
- This job is generally performed in a professional office environment
- Occasionally works outdoors and may be exposed to weather extremes conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity
- Noise level may be loud at times
- Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment
- On occasion time spent in confined spaces and high places
- Frequently works at fast pace with unscheduled interruptions
