We are looking for a Waste Management Analyst to play a key role in optimizing the Waste Management program at BC Works. The Analyst will coordinate the safe and efficient day-to-day operations of waste management contractors, provide tracking and reports, and manage relationships related to waste management.
This role is a great opportunity for an organized and team-oriented individual to grow in a developing team, where they can make an impact by promoting sustainability and optimization of the waste management program.

Reporting to the Logistics & Waste Management Coordinator and working a Monday to Friday schedule, you will be:
- Working safely in accordance with Rio Tinto safety standards – actively leading, and engaging in safety initiatives promoting our “Zero harm” safety culture
- Manage day to day process waste management contractors
- Identifying and recommending improvements to handling and processing of waste
- Tracking waste disposal volumes and costs by classification for cost allocation and reporting purposes
- Identify waste recycling opportunities
- Managing relationships with hazardous waste receivers
- Educating departments on waste disposal processes
What you’ll bring
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
- Excellent ability to communicate with stakeholders both across the site and external agencies
- Leadership and/or contractor-management experience
- A good understanding of logistics
- Experience with waste reduction and repurpose programs
- A tertiary qualification in environment, sustainability, or related field as an asset. A minimum of a high school diploma
- A valid drivers’ license (at least a Class 7 “N” in BC) or out-of-province equivalent.

The base salary range for this role is $88,800 - $133,200 CAD in addition to allowances, bonus, equity, health or retirement benefits, and any other discretionary benefits offered at Rio Tinto. Our base salary ranges are based on role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by the skills, experience, and impact you bring to the role.
