Location: Bishopstown, Cork, Ireland.

Job Summary: Johnson and Perrott Motor Group is seeking a Workshop Controller to join our Jaguar Land Rover team. Operating from our state-of-the-art Bishopstown Dealership, you'll work with the Service Manager to manage the workshop’s activities in order to maximize productivity and efficiency, while achieving profitability targets and delivering exceptional service to our customers. This role is offered on a 4-day work week schedule.

Responsibilities Include but Are Not Limited To: As a Workshop Controller, your main responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Repair Compliance: Ensuring that repair jobs are carried out completely and correctly by technicians in accordance with JLR guidelines and regulations.
  • Workshop Scheduling: Scheduling daily workshop activities to ensure that key targets are attained.
  • Workflow Monitoring: Monitoring flow of work in the Service Department, while adhering to the processes in place, implementing improvements where possible, and intervening as needed to ensure that work is accomplished.
  • Parts Planning: Proactively planning and identifying parts required for booked jobs and coordinating with the Parts Department to ensure that required parts are available.
  • Service Coordination: Liaising with Service Advisors regarding service activity levels to ensure that the workshop is prepared to meet business requirements.
  • Workshop Utilization: Optimizing utilization in the workshop according to the qualifications of technicians.
  • Technical Support: Providing technical support to Technicians in preparing diagnostics and performing difficult repairs.
  • Final Checks: Carrying out technical final checks after completion of jobs.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously reviewing and improving workshop processes and systems to deliver increased levels of customer satisfaction, while maximizing profitability and quality of work.
  • Resource Management: Planning and managing workshop resource requirements, such as consumables, tools, and equipment
  • Training Coordination: Training and coordinating training to develop the workshop team in order to achieve high-quality work, providing feedback and coaching as required.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Ensuring that the workshop team works closely with colleagues in Sales and Aftersales to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Professional Standards: Maintaining a professional manner and high standards of personal presentation at all times, including ensuring that work areas and protective clothing are clean, tidy, and in a safe condition, to uphold JLR dealership standards.

Required Education, Skills, and Qualifications:

  • Qualification: You should be a qualified Motor Vehicle Technician with experience in modern vehicle electronics.
  • Experience: A minimum of five years’ work experience in a similar capacity is advantageous for this role.
  • Desire to Learn: A strong desire to continually train and develop your skills.
  • Leadership skills: a proven track record in motivating and managing teams.
  • Technical Proficiency: Good knowledge of computer and web-based systems.
  • Communication Skills: Fluent in English with good written and oral skills.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills and a customer-focused approach.
  • Franchise Experience: Previous experience with our franchise is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Driver’s License: A full clean driver's license is required.
