Position Overview

The Yard Hand & Shipper/Receiver plays a key role in preparing materials for fabrication and coordinating the shipping and receiving of goods. You’ll operate loader, skid steer plus band saws and other cutting equipment, maintain organized yard operations, and ensure materials are handled safely and efficiently.

This position is ideal for someone mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a hands-on shop environment.

Key Responsibilities

Band Saw Operation

  • Operate band saws and cutting machinery to cut steel materials per drawings and measurements.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and job instructions.
  • Verify accuracy using measuring tools (calipers, tape measure, squares, etc.).
  • Perform equipment setup, basic programming, and maintenance checks.
  • Ensure quality and safety standards are met at all times.

Shipping & Receiving / Yard Duties

  • Load and unload trucks safely using skid steer or loader.
  • Mark, label, and organize incoming and outgoing materials.
  • Maintain accurate shipping and receiving documentation.
  • Keep yard and shop areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety policies.
  • Support other production areas as required.

Qualifications

  • Experience in fabrication, machining, or industrial environments preferred.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Strong math and measurement skills.
  • Skid steer and loader operation experience an asset.
  • Physically capable of handling steel materials and working in a shop/yard environment.
  • Reliable, organized, and safety-minded with strong teamwork skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.00-$28.00 per hour
