We are looking for a Youth Engagement Assistant to join our Register Development team.

Title: Youth Engagement Assistant

Salary: Living wage per annum (£21,840)

Contract: 3-Months FTC

Hours: 35 per week (standard Anthony Nolan working hours)

Location: Remote with regular travel

Job Summary


The Youth Engagement Assistant (3-month fixed-term) will support and inspire our volunteers to recruit lifesaving donors and raise awareness of our vital work. This is a fantastic role where you truly see the impact of your work.

Our work in schools, universities and the community are key areas of focus and growth for recruiting more lifesaving donors onto the register for the next year and beyond.

Our University Programme (Marrow) provides us with 50 volunteer hubs around the UK, but for these to be sustainable and to maximise their potential, we must provide excellent stewardship. Our work in schools is vital for targeting potential donors within a 16-18 youth audience. Our incredible partnerships support us to achieve our aims in target communities and wider.

Our expectations of you:

You will bring:

  • Experience of working with young people aged 16-23 with an understanding of the opportunities and challenges that working with this age group brings.
  • Willingness and ability to work out of office hours and travel to events (including some overnight stays).
  • Willing to regularly travel within the UK and be based near a city with good transport links.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workloads.
  • Ability to work quickly and effectively under pressure, remaining professional and polite under all circumstances.
  • Ability to take initiative with creative ideas when supporting volunteer communications and campaigns.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Open and honest and positively accepts feedback.
  • Respects the importance of good time keeping, punctuality and reliability and puts it into practice.
  • Willing and able to act as an ambassador for Anthony Nolan and to embrace and uphold Anthony Nolan’s values and apply them to everyday activity.
  • Ability to work within all Anthony Nolan policies and procedures including Data Protection, Health & Safety, and Dignity at Work.

You will do the role by:

  • Becoming trained and experienced in planning and managing donor recruitment events.
  • Proactively searching for and developing leads for donor recruitment activity in target areas – for example large cities.
  • Supporting the delivery of excellent stewardship to our volunteers.
  • Expanding Anthony Nolan’s youth programmes into schools, colleges, universities, and other youth establishments by supporting and coordinating the planning of targeted donor recruitment events and campaigns.
  • Supporting social media and communication channels to engage our volunteer bases.
  • Helping to develop resources to train our volunteer base.
  • Supporting the expansion of Anthony Nolan’s Partner organisations’ donor recruitment activity.
  • Delivering presentations at youth organisations, corporate partners, colleges, and universities to raise awareness of Anthony Nolan’s work to inspire audiences to act.
  • Supporting the organisation and delivery of training events and conferences.
  • Providing administrative support to the University team.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Anthony Nolan and the stem cell register.
  • Previous experience of working with and managing volunteers.
  • Previous experience of speaking in public / delivering presentations and communicating effectively to a varied audience especially young people and students.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to motivate and persuade others.
  • Ability to understand and communicate data in an accessible way.
