About us:
After School Life is seeking an experienced instructor to lead a youth leadership program for elementary-aged children. Responsibilities include developing and facilitating leadership training activities, team-building exercises, and problem-solving scenarios and communication.
Job Summary:
A part-time (contract) job is responsible for studying the provided curriculum and training the children for each given week. Strong time management skills are required as our coaches are expected to start and finish on time while also covering everything that is in the curriculum for that specific session. When teaching a class, maintaining class order is important, as it allows coaches to demonstrate the skills without distractions - resulting in the kids understanding better.
Main Responsibilities:
· Teach leadership program to children in Tri-Cities schools district
· Teach different drills / practices to kids each week
· Friendly and respect school's staff / parents / students
· Strictly follow school's protocols and instructions
· Arrive on time (15 minutes before each session) for check-in, flexible, good with kids, high commitment
· Distribute, collect, and maintain inventory of all materials and classroom supplies
· Maintain daily attendance records
Qualifications and Requirements:
· Must be at least 19 years of age
*Experience:
- Previous experience working and educating with children or adolescents in an educational or extracurricular setting.
- Experience in leadership training or youth performing arts programs.
- Background in planning and facilitating group activities and workshops.
*Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage and motivate young students.
- Ability to design and implement age-appropriate leadership activities and programs.
- Organizational skills to manage program logistics and evaluate student progress.
*Education:
- Degree in Education, Child Development, Psychology, Performing Arts or a related field.
- Certification or training in leadership development or youth programs is a plus.
· Knowledge of working with children, social and emotional learning, physical literacy, group management, behavior management, and counseling
· Experience in planning and leading activities for groups of children in a recreational setting
· Having current criminal record check and first aid certificate or willing to apply.

This is a part-time contract position working weekdays afternoon shifts (must be available between (02:30 to 04:00 pm)

Job Type: Fixed term contract
Pay: $40.00-$50.00 per hour
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- No weekends
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Coquitlam, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
