About The Position

Location: Port Augusta

Status: Contract to 30th June 2027 - Full Time

The Supporting Adolescent Boys Trial is a national early intervention trial for young men and adolescent boys aged 12-18 years who present with adverse childhood experiences including family and domestic violence and who are using, or at risk of using, family, domestic or sexual violence (FDSV). This program is a formal consortia arrangement between Centacare Country SA, Kornar Winmil Yunti Aboriginal Corporation and Uniting Country SA.

As the Youth Practitioner, you will support participants' recovery and healing from their experience of family and domestic violence. You will build the evidence base on effective approaches to supporting young men and boys exposed to family and domestic violence to reduce the risk of them using FDSV.

Skills and Experiences:
You will:
  • Have strong relationship building and communication skills.
  • Be experienced in working in a highly confidential manner within a sensitive, complex and demanding environment.
  • Exercise initiative and have well developed problem-solving skills.
  • Have demonstrated experience in individual therapeutic case work.
It is essential for you to have:
  • Current Australian Drivers Licence.
  • Relevant experience in the domestic, family and sexual violence, youth justice or child protection sectors.
It is desirable for you to have:
  • A Certificate IV (or above) in a Human Services related discipline.
You may also need to be available for some out of hours work and travel between Uniting Country SA sites or interstate as required.
