We're seeking a passionate and dedicated Youth Support Mentor – Post Placement to join our Employment Services team in Maitland. This permanent, full-time position offers the opportunity to support young people as they transition into employment, helping them overcome challenges, build resilience and achieve long-term success.
Working within our Transition to Work (TtW) program, you'll play a vital role in providing ongoing support to participants after they commence employment, helping them maintain sustainable outcomes and reach key milestones.
About the Role
As Youth Support Mentor – Post Placement, you will:
- Provide structured post placement support to young people who have commenced employment
- Deliver regular mentoring, coaching and workplace support to help participants maintain successful outcomes
- Build positive relationships with employers, participants and support services
- Identify and address barriers that may impact employment retention.
- Support participants through workplace challenges including communication, attendance, confidence and workplace expectations
- Coordinate referrals to internal and external support services when required
- Assist participants to understand workplace rights and responsibilities
- Maintain accurate records and documentary evidence in line with program requirements

Essential Qualifications & Experience
To be successful, you will bring:
- Experience supporting people in employment or community services, and providing mentoring, coaching and case management support
- Understanding of person-centred and strengths-based case management, vocational and non vocational barriers affecting employment retention and accessible community support services
- Knowledge of youth development, employment pathways, workplace expectations and employer engagement
- Ability to identify risks and implement early intervention strategies
- Strong customer service, relationship building, written and verbal communication, organisation and time management skills
- Strong Digital Identity (MyGovID)
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Certificate III or IV in Community Services, Youth Work, Employment Services or a related discipline
- Diploma qualification in Community Services, Youth Work, Mental Health or similar
- Experience within Transition to Work, supporting vulnerable young people with employment retention and workplace interventions
- Knowledge of Workforce Australia Transition to Work, Post Placement support requirements, employment legislation, Fair Work and workplace awards
- Understanding of trauma-informed practice, young mental health and wellbeing
