Position Title: Youth Worker

The Employer: Crosscare is the social care agency of the Dublin Diocese and is a registered charity.

Crosscare delivers services with a servant leadership ethos. Crosscare’s Homeless, Youth, Information and Advocacy Teams support those most in need with Love, Respect and Excellence.

Crosscare exists to support people and families when they face difficult challenges in life and when they find it hard to get the help they need. Crosscare focuses on helping people when they need it most or when they can’t find support anywhere else.

Location: Ballybough Youth Service

Work Schedule: 37.5 hours per week. Tuesday - Saturday

Contract: Permanent

Salary: €38,769 – 57,011 Depending on Experience

Reporting to: Manager

The Role:

  • To deliver youth programmes, focused on young people identified as most in need in Ballybough.

  • To spend 70% of working hours in direct contact with young people with an emphasis on disadvantaged.

  • To ensure programmes fit within the Youth Work Process and Models of Youth Work.

  • To work a minimum of 3 late evenings per week and weekends as requested.

  • To organise residentials as part of the youth work programme.

  • To attend and participate at staff meetings within the service.

  • To represent the Youth Service, when requested, at various committees.

  • To submit all paperwork within a specified time period.

  • To apply for relevant grants related to the ongoing work in consultation with your Line Manager.

  • To work within the ethos and values of Crosscare.

  • To implement the Crosscare Strategy.

  • To attend relevant training.

  • To manage challenging behaviours and situations.

  • To carry out other duties as assigned by your Line Manager.

  • Develop and maintain positive community relationships.

  • Work collaboratively with other projects within the Ballybough area.

  • Work evenings and weekends as required with a minimum of 3 evenings expected.

  • Perform administrative duties associated with the role including relevant record keeping on the Logbook and UBU reporting forms.

  • A commitment to social justice and treating people with dignity and respect.

  • An understanding of the principles of teamwork and the ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team.

  • A positive ‘can do’ attitude.

  • Flexibility, good time management and a professional manner.

  • Ability to be pro-active and creative in approaches to the work.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Excellent computer skills

  • Be in possession of a third level qualification in youth work or a related discipline/field.

  • Experience of dealing with Child Safeguarding Issues.

  • Clean driving license preferred.
