The role
- Provides functional and technical support in the Zinc Department, primarily in the areas of Environment (Biodiversity, Air, Water, Waste and Land Management), Closure Planning and Energy & Climate Change.
- Co-ordinate the development and the implementation of the Zinc Department HSEC&HR Strategy and Annual Plan, primarily in the areas of Environment, Closure Planning and Energy & Climate Change.
- Provide support and Zinc Department-level monitoring of performance related to Environmental objectives, targets, and metrics.
- Co-ordinate the development and implementation of the Zinc Department HSEC & HR Assurance and Verification Plan and activities, primarily in the areas of Environment, Closure Planning and Energy & Climate Change.
- Co-ordinate the development of Glencore Zinc Department Environmental, Closure Planning and Energy & Climate Change System Documents.
- Provide leadership support to the Zinc Department HSEC & HR team to assist in meeting business objectives.
- Deliver technical support to the Zinc Department in meeting environmental compliance and achieving environmental performance objectives, including Environment baseline, risk and impact assessments.
- Closure Planning and Financial Provisioning, Energy and Climate Change, Biodiversity and Ecosystems Services, Land Stewardship and Rehabilitation, Geochemistry (including Acid Rock Drainage and metal leaching), Water Management (including Hydrogeology), Waste Management, Incident Management and Reporting and Contaminated Sites Assessment and Auditing (assurance and verification).
- Support data management and ensure timely and accurate delivery of any required information for internal and external reporting, including statutory reporting, the Annual Report, Annual Sustainability Report, and ICMM-required reporting.
- Provide coordination of environment training programmes and workshops to assist in the implementation of technical standards across the Zinc Department.

Minimum requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in Environment, Science or Engineering disciplines
- Minimum of 7 years’ relevant experience in the resources sector, including operational experience
- Comprehensive background in managing Environment performance
- Experience in the development and implementation of HSEC Strategies and conducting HSEC audits
- Working knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 31000
- Understanding of international standards such as UN Guiding Principles, IFC, UN Sustainable
- Development Goals, Global Biodiversity Framework, TNFD, TCFD.
- Advanced user of Microsoft Office suite of products including: PowerPoint, Word and Excel
- Fluency in English
- Proficiency in Spanish or Russian will be highly regarded
