About the role

• Dubbo NSW location base
• Permanent part time (24hrs per week)
• Base Full Time Salary: $63,412 - $68,344 (salary is based on experience)

The Aboriginal Liaison Officer (ALO) plays a critical role in improving sexual and reproductive health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in NSW, with a particular focus on Dubbo and surrounding regions. The role supports culturally safe, trauma-informed and strengths-based healthcare, information and health education by building connections between aboriginal communities and Family Planning Australia.

Skills and Experiences:
Selection Criteria
Essential

• Previous experience working with Aboriginal communities
• An understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
• An interest in aboriginal sexual and reproductive health
• Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people
• Demonstrated ability to prioritise work and work within timeframes
• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and also work independently
• Demonstrated interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion at all times
• Current NSW drivers' licence
• Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
• Must have full permanent working rights in Australia

Desirable

• Knowledge of sexual and reproductive health issues
• Experience working within the health sector
• Experience delivering community education to Aboriginal communities

Other requirements

• A Criminal Record Check and Working with Children Check are required prior to commencement in this role
