Te Haeata/The Opportunity

Coronial Services are currently looking for a Wellington based Administration Support Officer. Ideally this is a full-time position but can discuss part time options for the right applicant.

You will be working in a fast-changing environment that will require a high level of agility and resiliency.

You will have strong interpersonal skills that will support your work with the Coronial Case Managers and the Coroners, but also be capable of dealing with distraught family members in sensitive circumstances. An ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds is essential.

You will be expected to provide excellent and highly organised administrative support to Case Managers and our Coroners. You will need to build and maintain excellent relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

On occasion, there will be a requirement to work additional hours with advance notice given so some flexibility in availability is required for this role.

Ō pūkenga/Skills and Experience

No candidate will meet every single desired qualification. If your experience looks a little different from what we have outlined and believe you can bring value to the role, we'd love to hear from you! To be successful in this role you will:

  • work effectively and calmly in stressful situations
  • resilliance to handle viewing graphic coronial material
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • be highly organised, great at multi-tasking and able to prioritise effectively
  • enjoy working in a reactive as well as a proactive and fast paced environment
  • possess the confidence of an all-round professional
  • have exceptional record-keeping skills with accurate typing and data entry
  • good working knowledge of Word and Excel
  • ability to work both with direction and independently
  • the desire to learn and adapt
  • relevant previous experience from other similar roles.

As travel may be required from time to time, you must be able to travel, sometimes at short notice. You will need to hold a full New Zealand Drivers' Licence.

This is a challenging role that will allow you to utilise your empathy, administrative experience, people and relationship management skills to a high level and be part of the team that provides New Zealanders with a first-class Coronial Service.
