About the role
As an Area Service Sales Manager, Western Canada you will lead, manage, and drive the achievement of sales and growth targets for the Area West sales team—including Customer Relationship Managers and Inside Sales Managers—aligned with the Area strategy. You will be responsible for the full Smart Infrastructure Buildings’ portfolio, ensuring consistent execution of the businesses’ Zone, and Area processes and guidelines, with a strong focus on expanding Building Automation and Digital Service offerings.
Role Scope:
- Achievement of financial and non-financial KPIs: incoming orders, revenue, margins, forecasts, advance payments, business mix, sales funnel quality, data integrity, team activity levels, and Net Promoter Score.
- Internal collaboration with Area Sales Professionals, Customer Relationship Managers, Project & Service Management, Area Sales Managers, Area Manager, Business Administration, Zone Management, Purchasing, Logistics, and Legal teams.
- External engagement with end customers, sales partners, planners, architects, contractors, and decision-makers across all levels.
What will you do:
- Deliver and exceed sales budgets through strategic leadership and performance management of the sales team.
- Drive growth in Building control & automation and Digital service offerings, including remote services, analytics, and digital platforms.
- Implement a data-driven sales management approach with consistent CRM stewardship and pipeline discipline.
- Inspire and lead by example to foster a high-performance culture and deliver superior customer experiences.
- Continuously develop team competencies to meet evolving market and customer needs.
- Provide coaching tailored to individual and team learning styles and motivational drivers.
- Support sales representatives during customer engagements and negotiations.
- Build and strengthen relationships with key decision-makers and influencers to unlock strategic opportunities.
- Identify and pursue strategic acquisition targets and must-win projects, including competitive account conversions.
- Serve as the first escalation point for complex sales issues and customer concerns.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure resource availability and alignment with business goals.
- Systematically manage the installed base to drive migration, contract renewals, and service penetration.
- Develop compelling sales concepts, value propositions, and tailored materials for diverse customer segments.
- Support strategic business development initiatives with key accounts as needed.
- Recruit, retain, and develop top talent, ensuring robust succession planning and performance management.
- Ensure seamless handover from Sales to Solutions and Service teams.
- Actively participate in sales leadership communities, sharing best practices and fostering collaboration across Region, Zone, and Area.
- Own the sales process and ensure compliance with approval protocols.
What will you need to succeed:
- Proven success in sales management with direct leadership of at least 5 team members.
- Experience navigating complex matrix organizations and leading virtual teams.
- Deep understanding of market dynamics and customer portfolio management.
- Expertise in sales processes and competitive strategy execution.
- Strong network within the Western Canadian Construction market, including M&E consultants, contractors, vertical markets, and end users.
- Professional, confident, and customer-centric demeanor across all organizational levels.
- Excellent networking and relationship-building skills.
- High levels of motivation, resilience, and social media fluency.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Flexible and committed with a willingness to travel across the Area and occasionally to other locations.
- Degree in technical or commercial disciplines or equivalent experience in sales and sales management.
- Proficiency in CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), MS Office, and digital engagement tools.
- Trained in modern sales methodologies, including value-based selling.
- Technical affinity and project management experience are advantageous.
- Familiarity with financing models and solution-based selling.
