Job Summary:
The Assistant Manager is responsible for supervision of restaurant operation, including adherence to health regulations. Assists and supervises assigned staff to ensure achievement of overall financial results, guest satisfaction, and positive employee relations. Works with management to drive revenue, maximize profit, and ensure quality.
Essential Job:
- Supervise the restaurant staff to ensure department operates efficiently and business goals are achieved
- Execute and maintain quality and consistency of food, beverage and service with full adherence to standards; act with a sense of urgency, friendliness, professionalism while engaging with guests and staff
- Attend appropriate meetings and communicates effectively with all responsible staff to ensure guest and employee needs are met
- Responsible for opening and closing the restaurant as needed
- Accountable for guest satisfaction by ensuring food and beverage service standards are met and guest needs are responded to in a timely manner
- Responsible for building and maintaining guest relationships to drive repeat business
- Staff, train, and develop guest-focused employees
- Work side by side with management staff to train and model appropriate guest service standards
- Work in conjunction with manager to deliver discipline/corrective actions
- Assist with effective labor management through proper scheduling, monitoring, and adjusting based on business needs
- Ensure a clean and safe work environment
- Promote collaboration and provide a positive professional work environment
- Open availability—able to work nights, weekends and holidays
- Able to understand and comply with all safety regulations and rules
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to coordinate multiple tasks while maintaining standards of operations
- Solid organizational and supervisory skills
- Excellent guest service and hospitality skills and professional presentation
- Ability to motivate employees to work as a team to ensure that food and service meet high level standards
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to take initiative and ownership to resolve problems
- Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy
- Must be effective at listening, understanding and clarifying concerns and issues raised by guests or staff Proficiency of basic computer applications and POS systems
Preferred Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Minimum 3 years restaurant supervisory experience
- Minimum 3 years food & beverage experience
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to traverse all parts of the restaurant quickly
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time. In some instances, the entire shift
- Intermittent periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Ability to lift at least but not limited to 50 pounds and if more must be with assistance
- Read and visually verify information in a variety of formats (e.g., small print)
- Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines (e.g., to identify defects)
- Ability to move quickly turning from left to right or right to left
- Flexibility in the wrist to scoop, twist, push, pull, lift, and bend
- Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping
- Regularly required to handle hot food and beverages
- Ability to be mobile in walk-in refrigerator and freezer with temperatures ranging from 40° F to -10° F
