Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Deputy Manager – Instrumentation with 6+ years of relevant experience in a manufacturing industry. The candidate will be responsible for instrumentation maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, preventive maintenance, breakdown management, automation systems, and ensuring high equipment reliability and plant availability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day instrumentation maintenance and operations of the manufacturing plant.
  • Plan and execute preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance of instrumentation systems.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain field instruments, control valves, transmitters, sensors, switches and analyzers.
  • Handle maintenance of PLC, DCS, SCADA and automation systems.
  • Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of control loops and process instrumentation.
  • Monitor and maintain pressure, temperature, flow, level and analytical instruments.
  • Carry out regular calibration and validation of instruments as per defined standards and schedules.
  • Identify recurring equipment failures and implement root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with production and other maintenance teams to minimize plant downtime.
  • Supervise and guide instrumentation technicians and maintenance staff.
  • Plan manpower, spare parts, tools and resources required for maintenance activities.
  • Maintain records of breakdowns, preventive maintenance, calibration and equipment history.
  • Ensure availability and proper inventory of critical instrumentation spares.
  • Coordinate with OEMs, contractors and service providers for specialized maintenance and support.
  • Participate in installation, commissioning and modification of new instruments and automation systems.
  • Review technical specifications, quotations and requirements for instrumentation equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with plant safety procedures, quality standards and statutory requirements.
  • Support energy-efficiency, reliability improvement and continuous-improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare maintenance reports, MIS and performance reports for management.
  • Assist in shutdown planning and execution of major maintenance activities.

Skills

  • Strong hands-on knowledge of industrial instrumentation and automation.
  • Good understanding of PLC/DCS/SCADA systems.
  • Experience with calibration and troubleshooting of process instruments.
  • Knowledge of control valves, actuators, transmitters, sensors and industrial analyzers.
  • Knowledge of electrical/instrumentation drawings, P&IDs and loop diagrams.
  • Good knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good knowledge of RCA, breakdown analysis and maintenance planning.
  • Proficiency in MS Office/Excel and maintenance management/ERP systems is preferred.
  • Good leadership, communication and team-management skills.
