Join a team that plays a critical role in ensuring fair valuation of the firm’s risk portfolios. As an Associate in the Valuation Control Group, you will help safeguard the integrity of our financial reporting and risk management, working closely with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
Job summary
As an Associate within the valuation control group (VCG) team, you will be responsible to manage an independent function within Finance responsible for ensuring the firm’s risk portfolios are fairly valued. You will specialize in model risk, overseeing model limitations, performance metrics, and independent testing of model risk mitigants. You will collaborate with Trading, Model Review, Quantitative Research, and other key partners to ensure robust valuation policies and controls, gaining exposure to senior management and regulators.
Job responsibilities
- Oversee model risk for the Valuation Control Group by tracking model limitations, monitoring performance metrics, and independently testing model risk mitigants and compensating controls for fair value and prudent valuation adjustment models.
- Create, review, and evaluate documentation of fair value and prudent valuation adjustment models across a broad set of products, ensuring consistency and adherence to firm standards.
- Collaborate with Model Review, Quantitative Research, and model owners during review and approval cycles to resolve queries and ensure compliance with model risk management controls.
- Introduce enhancements to the strategic risk management framework for fair value and prudent valuation adjustment models.
- Summarize and communicate model risks to senior stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
- Develop best practice guidelines and training materials related to Model Risk Management.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Breadth of knowledge and experience across financial products, models, and asset classes.
- Analytical and quantitative aptitude with strong attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to interface with a wide variety of functional areas.
- Ability to ask incisive questions, converge on critical matters, assess materiality, and escalate issues.
- Working knowledge of Python and/or VBA and Excel.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience with model validation and/or development.
- Experience with valuation control processes.
