Associate Veterinarian (Full or Part-Time)

Location: Monroe Low Cost Spay Neuter Clinic, a program of the Humane Society of Union County

Reports to: Medical Director

Job Summary

The Monroe Low Cost Spay Neuter Clinic is seeking a Full or Part-Time Associate Veterinarian to join our mission-driven team. We specialize in high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter (HQHVSN) services and basic wellness care for community pets and rescue animals across Union County and surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter surgeries (averaging ~20+/day)
  • Provide basic wellness care (vaccines, deworming, etc.) for HSUC’s rescue animals and pets in the community
  • Follow Association of Shelter Veterinarians HQHVSN guidelines
  • Collaborate with the clinic team on complex cases and operational matters
  • Demonstrate empathy and professionalism in all interactions

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift animals or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs
  • Stand for extended periods during surgery or treatment
  • Kneel and bend frequently while handling animals

Qualifications

  • DVM, VMD, or equivalent from an accredited veterinary program
  • Licensed (or eligible for licensure) in North Carolina
  • Experience with HQHVSN surgery preferred; shelter medicine background a plus
  • Comfortable handling feral and unsocialized animals with compassion
  • Committed to ongoing professional development and best practices in veterinary care
